TU Alumnus Becomes Police Chief
Post Published On:A Thomas University alumnus and student was appointed police chief of the Homerville Police Department in Georgia.
Keith Jackson was sworn in as the new police chief in September.
“It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve as the police chief of the Homerville Police Department,” he said.
Jackson has severed in various positions in his law enforcement career such as a Correctional Officer, Patrol Officer, Patrol Deputy, Narcotics Investigator, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, and Administrative Captain. Although Jackson held various law enforcement positions in Florida and Georgia, he had more goals.
In 2020, Jackson began taking online courses at Thomas University. As he was taking his classes, Jackson continued to work his regular patrol shifts.
Jackson completed his associate degree in law enforcement and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, at Thomas University.
Jackson’s hard work continued to pay off. In March 2023, Jackson transferred to the Homerville Police Department where he was promoted to Captain. A short time later, June 2023, Jackson was appointed as Chief of Police. As Jackson is overseeing the daily operations of the Homerville Police Department, he is also pursuing his M.B.A at Thomas University.

“As a Chief of Police it’s an honor to earn one of the highest appointments in law enforcement and this displays that anything is possible. As I look back on all of the hard work and dedication over the years, I can truly say learning is endless. As a Thomas University alumnus, it speaks volumes for the program because without a degree and without the help of Thomas University, I wouldn’t be able to be in a position as such. I’ve always told myself and continue to say knowledge is power but only if you utilize it!”
